Dominical: Directions

When you are planning your trip down to AEC Spanish Institute- Playa Dominical, it is important for you to know when your flight will arrive in San Jose. The reason for this is that if you arrive after 12 p.m. it is not likely that you will be able to make the trip all the way to Dominical in the same day. If this happens you should probably make reservations to stay the night in San Jose. We have a small, clean, comfortable student guesthouse that is available to our students. If you would like to stay there please try and let us know before hand as it can be very busy and we have a limited number of beds. For students on the Deluxe Adventure program, we do offer an Airport pick up service as a part of the program’s price. For those on the Standard Spanish program, airport assistance is not a part of the program price, but it is available for an additional cost. Please contact us for more information about the airport pick up service.

SAN JOSE TO DOMINCAL BUS TRANSPORTATION

The bus from San Jose to Domincal is a two-step process.

1. First you need to get a taxi to the Musoc Bus Station in San Jose. (Buses leave for the city of San Idsidro every hour on the half hour starting at 6:30 AM until 9:30 PM.)
Cost = 1750 Colones ( about $3.75).
Aprox time = The trip lasts 3.5 hours

2. Once in San Isidro you have two options:
*A. The first is to take a taxi for the short ride to the Dominical bus station
in San Isidro.
Departure Times to Dominical: 7am, 9am, 1pm, and 4pm only.
Aprox time: The trip lasts about an hour and a half. (The bus stops at the San Clemente Restaurant once it crosses the Baru River and enters Dominical.)

AEC's Dominical school is about a half block back up the street across from the soccer field.

*B. Your second option in San Isidro is to take a taxi directly from the Musoc Station to Dominical. This is especially helpful if you do not coordinate your arrival in San Isidro with the Dominical bus.
Aprox time: The taxi trip lasts about 40 minutes. You will probably need to negotiate the price with the taxi driver. Do not agree to a taxi that wishes to charge you over 8,000 Colones or $22.

Once again the school is the right side of the street just as you turn into the town after crossing the river; across from the soccer field.

When the bus pulls into Dominical the first stop will be just after the soccer field in front of the San Clemente restaurant and across the street from South Coast Realty. The school is located 50 meters back towards the town entrance, across the road from the soccer field. There is a large sign on the road and the office is right on the road. If there is not a school representative at the bus stop, just walk over to the office and they will take care of you there.

If you are going to travel on your own to the school, please contact them and let them know what time to expect you and by what means of transportation you are planning on using. The number for the school's office is 787-0023, if you would like to fax, the number is the same.
